I think retail workers should be able to sit down in chairs and listen to music and goof around and chat with their coworkers and dick around on their phone when they have free time and not have to pay attention to every customer’s little whim or be constantly on guard or perform happiness or clean and should be able to make out in the back rooms or go home whenever because theres enough people to cover their shift and just enjoy life and labor a little more. played sims 4 for the first time and one of the married cis men had a desire to try for baby with his cis husband. i accidentally pinned it and could not unpin it. trying for baby is physically impossible. I tried to use cheats to give him a viable womb in create a sim but it wouldn’t let me do so retroactively. so I thought, maybe if they adopt the want for pregnancy will go away, and had them adopt a toddler daughter. but then the try for baby desire did not go away. since they now had an unwanted adopted child I tried to remove the toddler from the household, thinking this would send her back into the ether. it did not. instead she wanders the neighborhood like a feral cat. i thought the social worker would come and take her back so someone else could adopt her, but I guess there is no social worker in sims 4. so now the neighborhood is haunted by a smelly miserable baby that has no home but cannot die and everyone who sees her is uncomfortable. fucking omelas scenario.

OP— do ctrl+shift+C and type “testingcheats true” and then “cas.fulleditmode” into the bar, then go into CAS and change one of the sims to be able to get pregnant. mpreg is possible ALWAYS

They don’t want us to call what’s happening in Gaza a genocide not because there’s not been an official ruling but because these things don’t get set in people’s minds via official ruling. Instead it is the oral history that sets an event into place in mass consciousness.

Us calling it what it is - a genocide - means they can’t wriggle out of it in years to come. They can’t continue to call it a conflict or a war if we cement it in public consciousness as a genocide.

So don’t tone down your language. Call it what it is. Make sure the history books know what happened and the genocides that took place in Palestine, Sudan, Congo.

Denial and control of language is a powerful tool for genocide supporters, especially for soft supporters.

Genocide relies on a lot of acquiescence and denial and complacency and pretending it’s not happening.

Genocide relies on a lot of what Sartre calls “bad faith” ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_faith_(existentialism) ). This is different from the rhetoric of lying to another, but is about lying to oneself.

Calling these genocides what they are challenges that comfortable self-deception and challenges the load bearing lie that “I am a good person if I just collaborate with power”.
